SNAPGRADES In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love. (Mother Teresa) Our Theme this year is the Beatitudes. THE BEATITUDES 1. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 2. Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted. 3. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land. 4. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. 5. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. 6. Blessed are the pure of heart, for the will see God. 7. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. 8. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Classroom RulesFourth grade is a year for learning Responsibility and Self-Discipline. To promote these two character traits,I use a Reward/Consequence system, with an emphasis on rewards. Classroom rules are important to maintain a positve learning environment. Rules apply to school and classroom environments. Rules: Always be respectful. Be prepared with materials, classwork and homework. Follow directions the first time you hear them. You may not talk when the teacher or other students are talking. You may not disturb your neighbor and keep them from learning. Always try your best.
Positive Rewards: Students are rewarded using these rewards and others. Character Education Behavior Coupons: All of us strive to have good character traits. After instruction of good character traits, students will be rewarded through coupons given for traits they exhibit. (Caught being good) After 5 coupons, students will go to the Treasure box. Character Traits: (#1)Integrity, (Doing the right thing even when students think no one is looking), Responsibility, Citizenship, Honesty,Perseverance (stick-to-it),self-discipline,and respect. Fun Friday Fun Friday is an earned reward. Students who complete school work and assignments, work hard, and exhibit a willingness to participate will earn this reward. Reward may come as a movie, (related to academic subjects), game time, or extra recess. One Point Questions One point questions are earned by good listening. I offer these questions to the students as a bonus. When students earn 5 of these, they may cash them in for a daily grade increase, such as an average of a C+ can be changed to a B-. Other rewards Other rewards may include positive notes, notes/phone calls to parents, praise (daily), extra computer time, free talking with friends time, and many others as earned. Consequences Fourth grade is a year for learning Responsibility and Self-Discipline. To promote these two character traits, I have Consequences in place to help keep a positive learning environment. Students make choices for behavior. If a student chooses to disrupt the class during instruction time, or disturb other students, he/she will receive check marks. Check Marks: Students recieve one checkmark which equals 5 minutes from recess for disruptions to learning. Students who receive 3 checkmarks in one day will receive lunch detention. A notice will be sent home with student. This could result in a phone call to parents if checkmarks are not working to help the student correct the behavior(s). Loss of Fun Friday: Students who continue to make wrong choices may lose Fun Friday. Other consequences may include apology, written reflection, lunch detention, or visit to principal.
