Welcome to the Computer Lab. Grades K-8 come to the lab once a week, with grades K-5 coming twice a week. Students develop keyboarding skills and have access to various types of programs to improve their math and language arts skills. We also provide Accelerated Reader to improve comprehension. Upper grades are taught the basics in Microsoft Word, and Powerpoint,. They also have the opportunity to research websites during their computer class time to obtain information for their regular classes. I also instruct the students on internet safety through the I-SAFE AMERICA Program which is a national program.

.IACCELERATED READER CERTIFICATE RULES

In order for students to earn certificates, the students must:

Read books that we have the test for.

Take the test and make 70 - 80% or above based on the level of the book.

Each grade level has different points to earn for each certificate. There are three levels of certificates.  After a student has earned the third certificate then he/she must double the points to earn another certificate and so on.

We do not have all the books in our library that we have tests for.

Each time a student receives a certificate, they put their name in a box and at the end of the year there is a drawing for various prizes.

The purpose of Accelerated Reader is to measure comprehension.  The Certificate program was started to hopefully encourage reading not only for class assignments but also for enjoyment.

After some research,  I have found a program to recycle used printer cartridges.  We will only be collecting the small ink jet cartridges, old cell phone, and dvd's.  Please send these items to the office with your child.

The computer lab is in desparate need of antibacterial wipes and paper towels.  I would appreciate your help with these items.
